Meet Jessica

Jessica Anet Callens has been a writer ever since she put on her first pair of overalls and began to help with the family chores. At age seven she began writing short stories and poems and 2 years later at the age of nine, joined a writing club and began to write her own books. Even at an early age Jessica was inspired by the charm, humor and wisdom found in ordinary every day life and was able to write about it. In 2001 Jessica began writing stories for her hometown newspaper, many of which are included in this book.
Aside from writing, Jessica is a musician and has spent many years competing in various state competitions on both the organ and piano. She graduated from high-school in the spring of 2005 and currently plays organ and directs the choir in her home parish of St. Leo's. Jessica also teaches piano lessons and performs around SW Minnesota with THE CALLENS FAMILY ENTERTAINERS playing the fiddle, accordion, guitar and keyboard. Reading, riding horse, baking and listening to Country music are other things she enjoys with her eight brothers and sisters.
Jessica understands the importance of sharing real life experiences with people everywhere and continues to find plenty of writing material while doing chores on the 17 acre family farm. Jessica plans to continue writing a series on the rural lifestyle that she loves so well.

Jessica is engaged to be married in May of 2008! She and her fiance' Luke are shown here in the new home they are currently building down on the farm!
